Voluntary Blood Donation

‘Kanika – a Blood Donor Organization’ basically works with blood. The organization gives more emphasis on creating blood donors than collecting blood donors. Because it is true that Bangladesh has passed a long way in voluntary blood donation in the last one decade, but there is still some ignorance among the common people regarding blood donation.
In most cases, if someone needs blood, they request volunteers to donate blood without checking if any of their family members or relatives are able to donate blood. But ‘Kanika’ wants if someone needs blood, blood donor would come forward from the patient’s family or relatives. It provides blood as well as 100% safety of blood. Moreover, according to medical experts, in the case of any patient, the blood of his relatives is more effective than that of outsiders.
Currently, there are about two and a half thousand registered blood donors in Kanika. The number of registered members of Kanika is more than five hundred. About four and a half thousand bags of blood have been managed through Kanika so far.
